The Gems have landed, and we’ve given the Field Guide a bit of a celebration to mark the occasion. This update is all about the launch: a dressed-up header, two new badges to chase, and smarter event tracking so you always know what’s on. Here’s what’s new.
A bit of sparkle for the Gem launch
To mark the Gem launch, we’ve given the top of the app a celebratory makeover. You’ll spot a gentle shimmer across the header now: soft sparkles, drifting gem dust and a slow sweep of prismatic light, with the feature sprite floating quietly in the middle of it all. It’s our “Gem Sprite Launch Edition” look, a small celebration for a big moment in the game. If you prefer less movement on screen, don’t worry: it respects your device’s reduced-motion setting and holds still, and it eases off by itself on smaller screens and once you start scrolling, so it never gets in the way.
Two new Gem badges to chase
If you like a goal to work towards, there are two new badges built around the Gem variants. Gem Vanguard is earned by collecting all nine Gem variant targets: Water, Earth, Duck, Demon, Punk, Aura, Zero Point, Grim and Llama. Until you’ve got the full set, it counts up as you go so you can see how close you are. Prismatic Legends is the tougher one, earned by mastering the Gem variants for Zero Point, Grim and Llama. Both sit on the progression page with a new teal gem theme to set them apart.
A clearer event schedule
The events list now carries the full dated schedule for this run, rather than the older placeholder entries. Each event is named in the header too, so you’ll see something like “Gem Hours – Aug 8” instead of just a date, which makes it far easier to tell at a glance what’s actually on. The app is smarter about what it shows you as well: if an event is running right now, you’ll see that it’s live; otherwise it points you to the next one coming up, or the most recent one if nothing’s scheduled just yet. And for events where the exact timing hasn’t been confirmed, there’s now a clear “to be announced” marker rather than a blank.
A smarter events calendar
We’ve rebuilt the events calendar from the ground up. Instead of one long list, events are now grouped by day under friendly headings like “Today” and “Tomorrow”, filed under the day they actually fall on in your own local time. At the top, a “Next up” panel counts down to the next event and flips to “Happening now” with the time remaining once a window opens. The homepage card counts down too, so you can see how long until the next event without opening the calendar at all. There’s a filter to switch between upcoming and all events, past ones are tucked away by default, and if you leave the page open it keeps itself up to date, so every countdown and live status stays accurate.
