We`re so proud of our ongoing work with Bristol`s government-funded maintained nursery schools. Recently, we`ve been working with several settings, including Little Hayes and Speedwell Nursery Schools, on their marketing, including branding and logo development, designing new signage, producing promotional materials such as flyers and postcards, and helping them reach new parents and carers in their local area through digital marketing campaigns.

#ThrowbackThursday to 20 years ago this week to a university project we worked on, before Chaos Created was formed...

Back in 2005, members of our team (who would go on to create Timedancer and Zombies Ate My City together as Chaos Created) were working on a university project called Gridsearch. Essentially, a city-wide escape room experience, back before escape rooms were a thing.

The concept was ambitious for its time. We developed a complete crime-solving kit that included Luminol and a digital camera. Players used a "Portable Media Center" device that would download evidence when docked at each investigation site around the city. We even built custom websites and created a fake search engine with hidden clues for players to discover. The whole experience was tied together with an online platform where participants could upload their evidence and submit their findings to solve the case.

All this happened in the pre-iPhone era! It`s incredible that we pulled off this tech-integrated, location-based experience when most people were still getting used to flip phones. Our lecturers became players to grade us, immersing themselves in the game we created.

Seeing similar concepts like Escape Hunt`s "Vampire Hunters" in Bristol today shows we were onto something special back then. Sometimes the best innovations come from working with constraints, and did we have those in 2005! 📼📷

The video and puzzle-solving elements would go on to play a big part in our Timedancer mobile game series, and the location-based elements would play a huge role in Zombies Ate My City.

It`s a beautiful start to the day here in sunny #Portishead. We`ve got some fun projects this week, including previewing a new client website, finishing up writing some coding resources for summer tech camps, and creating some new reporting tools for a client.

Last week, we had an incredible experience at Harris Academy South Norwood. Our team led hands-on coding workshops for students in Years 7-10. The creativity and enthusiasm these young developers brought to the table were absolutely inspiring!

What we created together:

👾Years 7-8: Side-scrolling arcade space shooters
🕹️Years 9-10: Top-down dungeon crawler adventures

Every student personalised their game with custom graphics and unique gameplay mechanics, then took their creations home to share with family and continue developing independently.

We spent yesterday editing the highlights video from TeenTech`s recent MTI Festival, held at the MIRA Technology Institute.
